Middlesbrough 1 Hull City 0
Mon 5th Dec 8.00pm
Middlesbrough picked up only their third league victory of the season against Hull City courtesy of Gaston Ramirez's second-half winner.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan headed in when left unattended at the far post with an hour of the contest played.
Boro therefore move up to thirteenth in the table and four points clear of the drop-zone while their visitors remain in the bottom three.
Alvaro Negredo shot over on the turn during the early stages while Ramirez drove straight at City keeper David Marshall.
Viktor Fischer's close-range finish was then ruled out for offside and his later deflected effort only drifted away for a corner.
Ramirez dragged another opportunity marginally wide upon the restart before heading in what proved the winner when left in space from Fischer's corner.
Hull were naturally forced to come out and Sam Clucas headed over following another corner while Fischer was similarly off-target with a curled attempt towards the other end.
